During the holiday season, the idea of home is something that feels a bit more important and special; something we slow down to think about, something to be extra grateful for. There are many parts of the world strife with political oppression and war. Refugees have been displaced from their homes and are coming to Canada to find a safer place for themselves and their families. When first arriving in Canada, many refugees don't have many personal belongings, don't have anywhere to live and don't have the financial means to start their lives here.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Canadian Down & Feather Company has partnered with Culture Link and Sault Community Career Centre to help those in need. For each 850 Loft Canadian Hutterite Goose Down Duvet purchased on our website from November 30 - December 14, we are committing to donate a brand new White Goose Feather Duvet to a new individual or family in Canada.

Culture Link is a Toronto-based, registered non-profit charity, whose mission is to facilitate the active participation and integration of newcomers and the broader community, recognizing the interdependence of these groups in our society. They provide a wide range of settlement and community programs to over 10,000 participants each year.

Sault Community Career Centre is a not-for-profit support service agency serving Sault Ste. Marie, ON and area, providing personalized services to newcomers to help them achieve their professional goals and reach their full potential through meaningful work. Their mission is to help refugees become engaged in social, civic, cultural and economic life. Since 2016, SCCC has welcomed over 100 refugees under the federal government's Resettlement Assistance Program and has provided support services for over 40 privately sponsored refugees.

We had the pleasure of attending the annual Christmas celebration at Mimico Library, hosted by Culture Link as part of the Library Settlement Program. This event hosts over 100 newcomer children and their parents for an inclusive celebration of the season that seeks to strengthen social relationships and sense of community belonging. We would like to thank Culture Link and their volunteers for this wonderful event as well as our valued customers for helping make our contribution to the event possible.
