About This Product:

This duvet is filled with care in Canada. The cotton shell is 260 thread count, so it is crisp and durable. The duvet is filled with 550 loft duck down. Down fill is soft and luxurious, made up of tiny, fluffy clusters. This duvet is fairly lightweight, but you'll find this duvet contains more fill than a duvet with higher loft down. This is because the higher the loft of the down, the better the insulating properties, and the less of it we need to achieve the desired warmth level!

Summer Weight is great for hot sleepers or room temperatures of 22 degrees C or higher. Opt for Regular Weight if your room temperature is around 19 – 21 degrees C or if you’re fairly warm when you sleep. All Season Weight is best if your room temperature is 16 – 18 degrees C or if you’re a cooler sleeper.

Too warm for Summer

I gave this duvet three stars for the quality. It's a beautiful duvet, by far too warm. It's described as Summer weight but it's one of the warmer duvets I have ever used. I am a hot sleeper and try to keep the room at 16 with the window open. My husband was so hot, he couldn't sleep with it. I immediately had to go out the next day to buy a lighter duvet.

Hi Northern, That's totally fair. Down is a really powerful insulator, so even a thin down duvet is going to provide some amount of insulation. While most people need a warmer duvet for 16 degrees, everyone is different. Some of us have warmer body temps than others! We do offer an alteration service where we can remove some down from your duvet to reduce the warmth level. Feel free to submit an alteration request if you'd like to go that route. I would love to know more about the lighter duvet that you purchased, so we can understand where we might have fallen short. What is the loft/fill power and the fill weight of the product?

Well made duvet

Ordered this duvet specifically for spring use when nights can be cool but where my heavier duvet, also bought at CDFC was too heavy. Went with the summer weight. I try to keep our room around 18 degrees celsius or less with fan overhead and window open but I still find this duvet a bit warm and have woken up in a puddle. Construction of the duvet is really well done. Down inside is well proportioned and super soft. Unfortunately, I found out about the lovely soft down because one of my puppies decided to chew on the edge and opened it up. I will only be able to use this duvet for a couple more weeks and then will change to my summer cover. Very good product although not great for a hot sleeper.

It’s good quality but way too small :(

We’ve had our duvet for a year now, and I don’t often write reviews, but felt I had to for this product. Down duvets aren’t cheap and so this purchase tugs at my heart still every single day when I see it.

The duvet quality and warmth is great. Unfortunately, the size is just way too small for most conventional king size duvet covers. Our main cover is a beautiful (expensive) west elm cover and unfortunately this duvet is nearly 10 inches too small on the sides! I’ve tried everything from putting our duvet cover in the dryer to shrink it, to rotating the duvet inside, but the size difference between the duvet and the cover is just too significant. I had read a couple reviews here before purchasing this duvet that warned about the same thing, but I decided to take a gamble and try it anyways. I do regret it :( because our beautiful bed now looks floppy and I just hate looking at that edge of the duvet cover that is so obviously empty and flat. It drives me nuts!

I’ve since read on a few forums that many people upsize their duvet to get things looking fluffy - ex. They buy an extra-large king duvet for a regular king cover. It’s expensive to have to buy another but that’s likely what I’ll end up having to do. Best of luck!

Hi Kat, Agh, I am so sorry to hear. It is not a nice feeling when a big ticket item doesn't work or fit as you hoped. :( Really appreciate you leaving this review as I imagine it will help other shoppers.
Unfortunately duvet and duvet cover sizes are not standard across the industry. Sizes vary widely, and the only way to know if you're getting the right size is to check the product dimensions (ours are posted on each product page as well as on our Standard Dimensions page). For those who have a cover that they love, we strongly recommend checking the dimensions first. If you do decide to purchase a larger duvet (from us or any other brand), check the dimensions of the insert against the dimensions of your cover, even if the size name of the insert sounds bigger. Try to get the dimensions as closely matching as possible, and ideally, have the insert an inch or two larger than the cover.
I hope you can find something that works better for you in the future. I am glad to hear that at least this duvet is functional in the meantime.

The best duvet and brilliant company

Purchased an XL king-size for our king-size bed which ended up being the perfect size for having a bit of overhang. Perfect temperature for myself and my partner who are warm sleepers and prefer a colder room. No smell at all, no down came out when handling or putting on a duvet cover, and just took a day or so to puff up. Customer service was absolutely brilliant and helped me navigate delivery during the postal strike. I honestly cannot recommend this company and this duvet enough.

This duvet seemed so wonderful for the first 1.5 years. Light, crisp... didn't overheat me or my partner. We have had the duvet for 3 years and the fill has changed even with the baffle boxes. One side is flat and the other side has all the fill. I should have read the fine print about the warranty. The size also doesn't fit the 2 king covers we purchased for it and it is swimming in the cover.

I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't had a great experience with your duvet. Duvet and duvet cover sizes vary by brand and manufacturer. It is best to check the dimensions to ensure they match. We do offer duvet covers that match our duvets precisely, but there are others that fit on the market. Your duvet is constructed with baffle boxes. There are small openings between the boxes - this is how the duvet gets filled! Down shifting across boxes is fairly rare. Down is so lightweight that it doesn't really have the heft or weight to force itself through the openings. It also tends to cling to itself within the box. But it is possible and we do see it happen occasionally. It could be due to sitting or laying on the bed a lot, baffle box openings that are larger than normal, or a number of other factors. I don't see that you've reached out to us for help with this issue. If you'd like us to redistribute the down and/or close the openings, please do reach out to us! I hope to get some more clarification about the fine print you're referring to as well. We definitely don't want anything to be hidden or unclear, so I'd like to understand what you mean by this. Finally, I would love to know when you noticed the shifting. You purchased the duvet in 2020 - so was it mid-2022 that you noticed it happening?
