About This Product:

This duvet is made with care in Canada with Canadian fill. The shell is 500 thread count cotton – soft and quiet. The shell is filled with 850 loft goose down farmed by Hutterites in Alberta, Canada. Down fill is soft and luxurious, made up of tiny, fluffy clusters. The fill is very high loft, which means it is high quality and very warm per ounce. This is why you’ll find this duvet is very lightweight. Just a little bit of fill goes a long way in terms of warmth!

Opt for Regular Weight if your room temperature is around 19 – 21 degrees C or if you’re fairly warm when you sleep. All Season Weight is best if your room temperature is 16 – 18 degrees C or if you’re a cooler sleeper.

    Questions & Answers

    Have a Question?

    Ask a Question
    • My old duvet has the softest cover no need for a duvet cover, how soft are your best coverings?

The higher the thread count, the softer the fabric! The highest thread count we carry is 500, which is really soft and luxurious. However, using a duvet cover is recommended to protect the duvet from dirt, dust, body oils and sweat, which can degrade the product over time! High quality down duvets shouldn't be washed at home and must be dry cleaned or professionally washed. Using a cover minimizes the number of times the product has to be cleaned and increases its lifespan.

    • What are the dimensions in inches of the XL King 850 loft white goose down duvet?

XL King is 110" x 100". Dimensions can be found on every product page under Dimensions & Fill Weights, as well as on our Standard Dimensions page.

    • are these duvets RDS certified?

The 850 Loft Hutterite Goose Down Duvet is not yet RDS certified. We hope soon! We and our suppliers are RDS Certified. We're in the process of extending the certification to our full product line. You can read more about our certifications here: https://www.canadiandownandfeather.com/pages/our-commitment

    • What are the dimensions in inches of the XL Queen 850 loft white goose down duvet

XL Queen duvets are 96" x 98". Sizes are listed on each product page under Dimensions & Fill Weights, as well as on our dimensions page: https://www.canadiandownandfeather.com/pages/standard-dimensions

    • What's the difference between this duvet and the Hutterite Goose Down Duvet?

There are two main differences between these products. This duvet is made with higher loft down (850 vs 700 loft), which means the down is higher overall quality. It's also made with higher thread count fabric (500 vs 400), which means the fabric is softer and quieter. The Hutterite Goose Down Duvet is excellent quality to begin with - quite soft and very high performance. So while this duvet is marginally more luxurious, I would give the Hutterite Goose Down Duvet serious consideration as well! Check out this chart for product comparison: https://www.canadiandownandfeather.com/pages/product-comparison-chart

    • Will you be making extra long twin in the near future. I need two. I really want to shop Canadian.

We don't have any plans to add XL Twin to our standard sizes, but we will make sure that we pass this request along to our design team for the future!

    • Do you sell twin xl duvets?

I'm sorry, we don't! We will add this to our new product request list :)

    • Are all of your duvets made of new down or some made of recycled down?

All of our products contain new fill. We will add recycled down to our product request list!

    • Which one is the fluffiest, softest and lightest duvet you carry?

The highest loft duvet (this one) is the lightest! The higher the loft, the better the insulating properties of the down, and therefore, the less down that is needed to achieve the desired warmth level!
The fluffiest would be one of our duvets in Winter Weight (you can see the duvets that come in Winter Weight on the Product Comparison Chart). Winter Weight duvets are the fullest, and therefore fluffiest.
The higher the thread count, the softer the shell! 500 thread count is our softest shell.

    • Do you carry European Split King Duvets? 54'x78'

I'm afraid we don't! We will add this to our new product request list.

    • If I want the luxury super puffy look what duvet cover should I purchase? We recently purchased the 850 loft goose down duvet in XL King. I had read going to a smaller size duvet cover gives puffier look.

We recommend buying the same size cover as your duvet! It's true that buying a smaller cover will give a puffier look, but you don't want to go too small - otherwise it will create a lot of noticeable bunching. If you want to go undersized, it's best to find a cover that is only a few inches smaller than the duvet.

    • is the fill 100% goose down or part feather and part down?

It is actually illegal to advertise a product as 100% down! Our down products feel like all down, but they're actually not. A down product is never 100% down. In order to label it a down product, it has to be at least 75% down. Higher end products, like the Hutterite, are likely around 85-90% down, but it's not possible to determine the exact percentage in every product. The remaining percentage can be made up of down filaments, feathers, feather filaments, etc.

Here is some additional information: https://www.canadiandownandfeather.com/pages/pure-vs-blends

    • My bed is a California king. Do you have duvets in black cal king?

California King is the same as our XL Queen size (between Queen and King size)! All of our down duvets and duvet covers come in XL Queen :) Our duvets are made with a white cotton shell and are meant to go inside a duvet cover. There are lots of black duvet covers on the market, but we don't offer that colour currently.

    • I would like to know the highest loft count I can purchase. I would like a fairly heavy count, and pricing as well.

The highest loft we carry is 850, so you're at the right page! However, I think some clarity is needed around what loft means. Loft is the measure of down quality. The higher the loft, the higher the quality, and the more powerful the insulating properties! Higher loft down actually makes for lighter duvets - the down is so warm per ounce, that just a little bit of fill goes a long way. If you're looking for a heavier duvet, try a lower loft duvet. The fill is not as powerful, so more fill is needed to achieve the desired warmth.
If by heavy you're referring to warmth level, you'll want to consider the warmth rating (Summer, Regular, All Season, Winter), rather than the loft. Down of any loft can be used to create duvets of any warmth level.
In terms of pricing, simply select your desired size and warmth level from the dropdown menus on the product page and you'll see the pricing automatically update.

    • What are the dimensions of the Hutterite 850. King size quilt?

King size duvets are 102" x 90". You can see dimensions listed on this page under 'Dimensions & Specifications' or on our Standard Dimensions page.

    • How much is it for double

To see pricing, select your desired size and weight from the dropdown menus. You'll see the price automatically update as you toggle between different variants.

    • I'm looking to replace a single duvet on a queen size bed with two - Scandinavian style. Will two twin duvets work or should I order two double size?

Queen mattresses are about 60" x 80". Most European style duvets that are used 2 side-by-side are smaller than twin size. Twin duvets are 64" x 86"! So Twin might be too large for what you're looking for, but should work functionally. But I would definitely not consider Double!

    • I ordered the 850 Loft Hutterite Goose Down Duvet in size King XL and am currently searching for a duvet cover that will properly fit the 110" X 100" dimensions. I can't seem to find any manufacturer who make covers with these measurements though. I'm wondering if you may have a recommendation?

We've just launched duvet covers today (November 18th!) They are designed to fit our products precisely :) Since the founding of our company, we've put all of our focus and attention on down and feather products and really tried to specialize in those. And while there are covers out there that match our sizes, we understand it takes a lot of searching, as there's no standard sizing across the industry. We hope you love this new product and that it makes the purchase experience a bit easier!!

    • What are the baffle dimensions? Do your duvets carry the DOWNMARK label?

Baffles are the vertical inner walls, which create the 3 dimensional space for the down to loft up to its full potential. The baffles are about 1.5" high. If you're referring to the boxes, they're about 12" x 12". We are not a member of the Down Association club, so our products do not carry that label! We've opted for the IDS and RDS certifications instead, because they are far more rigorous and stringent, and are audited for / awarded by an independent body.
