About This Product:

This pillow is made with microfiber fill. Microfiber is soft and plush. It's a high quality polyester that's meant to mimic the softness of down. Microfiber is denser than down, so while microfiber pillows are still soft, they're able to provide a bit more support than down pillows. The shell is soft 300 thread count cotton.

One benefit of a synthetic pillow is that it can be machine washed at home, given your machine is quite large and you wash/dry on a low heat setting. Natural down and feather are quite sensitive to moisture, but polyester is not!

This pillow comes in Medium and is a real crowd-pleaser! It generally works for all sleeping positions.

Care

This pillow should be used with a pillow case and a zippered pillow cover/protector at all times. Failure to do so will cause premature wear and invalidate the warranty. A properly covered pillow will help eliminate stains and the build up of body oils, dirt, and dust. This will also help allergy sufferers.

Prior to use, shake the pillow vigorously to help fluff up the Gel Microfiber. It will take about 1 week of use before the outer fabric softens up and the Gel Microfiber lofts up to its full potential.

There may be a slight odour as a result of having been stored in the packaging, but it will disappear within the first week of use.

Take your Gel Microfiber pillow outdoors periodically and air it or place in the dryer on a low heat/cool cycle. This helps maintain its freshness, fluffiness and insulating qualities.

This product should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated closet or room when not in use in order to prevent mildew growth.

Cleaning Instructions:

A properly maintained pillow should require cleaning approximately once a year, with normal use. It may be cleaned more or less often depending on use.
This product may be machine washed in cold water, using mild detergent. Dry on lowest heat until thoroughly dry. If the filling stays even slightly damp, the Gel Microfiber will clump together and may allow mildew growth. Your pillow is covered in 100% cotton and filled with synthetic Gel Microfiber. If proper washing instructions are not followed, it may shrink, possibly causing puckering in the stitching and loss of the filling.
Alternatively, you may have your pillow dry cleaned or professionally washed by a reputable cleaner that specializes in cleaning Gel Microfiber products.
Small spots or stains may be removed by holding the fabric away from the filling and using warm water and mild soap. To dry, use a hair dryer on low heat.

I maybe wouldn't have ever written a review for this pillow had it not been for the interaction I had with customer service following delivery.
I ordered two of these for my mom as a present in April, and shortly before they arrived, took a chance on two more for myself. We both love(d) them (just as described, and provide the medium support promised), but a week into receiving it, one of my mom's started falling flat. She put it aside for a while (hoping lack of weight would puff it up again), we put it in the dryer when that didn't help, but when we ran out of options, I reached out to the company to explain and make a warranty claim. Although I knew this was just a one-off as the other pillows were not behaving this way, I had to go through the proper process. (Register your warranties--it's worth it!)
Within a day someone got back to me, assured I had taken all the right steps I could to fix the problem, and sent a return label so the team could see the issue for themselves. Once analyzed, a new pillow was sent to me. No further questions asked. Now all four are perfect, and I couldn't be happier. :)
A big thank you to Danny who couldn't have been more courteous and pleasant to deal with throughout this process, and the Canadian Down & Feather Co. for great pillows! :D

Not worth it- not supportive at all

These have the weight and feel of cheap 2 pack of Costco pillows but it's double the price. I bought this because I was looking for something more supportive. Unfortunately, it's very soft and flat. I have to constantly flip the pillow when I change positions, or bunch it up when I'm side sleeping because the corners are extremely flat. I tried fluffing up the pillow in the dryer, and while it does look fuller, the second you lay on it it's flat. The pillow might work for a small child. Not recommended and no returns are allowed.

Hi Amanda, Thank you so much for sharing your experience and perspective. I'm sorry that the pillows don't provide you the support you need. These pillows are 'down alternative', meaning they're designed to mimic the softness of down. That said, microfiber is denser and springier than down, so they do provide more support than a down pillow. But they're certainly softer than foam, latex, and many other synthetic materials. They're not the firmest pillows we offer - something containing feather in Firm support will be more supportive than these. But based on your description, it sounds like you may be better off with foam, latex or the like, as any down or feather product will have some 'give' to it.
It can be tough to find the right pillow for you - it varies so much person to person. What is soft to one can be very firm for another. Many side sleepers are OK with this pillow, but certainly not all - we find it is more popular for side/back combination sleepers who need a moderate / gentle support as a happy medium for both positions.
Returns are allowed on unused product. We recommend giving it a good feel before sleeping on it in case you may want to return. I know it can be challenging to vet a pillow without sleeping on it. Many of our products are eligible for alterations, where we can add or remove fill to adjust the support level for you once it's been used. Due to equipment constraints, this pillow isn't eligible for alterations, but we hope it will be over the next year or so. I'm sorry that your experience didn't meet your expectations and we wish you the very best in your search for the right product.

I recently stayed at the Elora Mill and had such a comfortable sleep I had to check what kind of pillows they use. I took a picture of the tag and as soon as I got home I immediately ordered my own. I’ve been looking for a new pillow and the last couple I have purchased from other manufacturers have not lived up to the hype. With this pillow from Canadian Down and Feather, there was no hype but it was a 10/10 for me (really only needed a couple of nights to break it in). I’m a side sleeper most of the time and found this perfect.

These Gel Microfibre Down Alternative pillows Queen size worn well for me. I have old neck injuries and these pillows have the ability to be the right combination of soft and firm all together.

I’m more of a side/back sleeper, but pillows are definitely an individual thing. Great service and delivery as promised.

Great pillow!

I purchased this pillow for my daughter who was looking for a down alternative. My husband & I have been using the same type of pillow for several years and we really like them. I find them similar to down in the way they can be 'bunched up' and they wash well and really regain their loft.
